In February 2009 a group of women took time out of their busy lives, left behind their stresses and strains and escaped to the beautiful island of Madeira for a much needed break.
They had time and space that they could devote to themselves, soaking in the atmosphere of the Pestana Casino Park Hotel and its facilities [

Everyone took time out to pamper themselves in the new Spa. Some of us went on a day's tour of the island. Others shopped until they dropped! Several women had fun and watched one of the best carnivals in Europe: lots of colours, music, dancing, laughter, singing, and mind-dazzling costumes - what a wonderful treat it was for them!
One evening we dined together at the famous Casino of Madeira - it was a time for us to dress up in our best frocks! And we all took a couple of hours out of our schedule and came together to fellowship, which was a truly amazing time.
During our time away I found that women travelling with other women opened up floodgates of conversation about health concerns, job mobility, dealing with parents and kids etc. Women who were virtual strangers could talk to one another about quite intimate subjects and receive friendly support.
Wouldn't you agree that getting away from the job, the husband and the children actually makes you a better employee, friend, wife and mother?
There are many stresses that go along with juggling careers and families and a break of this kind is a special time for women to bond.

The trip to Madeira was good and was completely different to any weekend break that I have experienced in my lifetime of travelling... I found the treatments calming relaxing and educational...Everyone was real good fun to be with and I certainly enjoyed the calmness, peace and serenity of Madeira. ... The first thing I did was to visit the sauna, oh yeah wonderful! Then up to my room for a long soak in the bath. Well after that, I slept like a baby - I've not slept like that since my last child was born (11 year ago)! Sauna, jacuzzi, steam room, massage - RELAXATION YEAH!! ...This break, although short, has shown me that I should always make time to relax and look after my body.

... I slept soundly, had champagne breakfasts, was pampered and preened like the Queen I AM with treatments galore. Wicked...Absolutely wicked. To top it off, I fellowshipped with amazing, beautiful women of all ages, shapes and gorgeous colours. I would highly recommend this break.
